Chief Cornerstone

1. Theyve built the mighty pyramid of time,
Its tall, so graceful and stout,
But theres a mistake in their great building plan,
Theyve left the cornerstone out,
Their fabulous cities, theyve built in this world,
Fulfilling their dazzle and dream,
But Satan has made it a dreadful nightmare,
Of terror and horrible screams.

2. Instead of going to God in prayer,
As Lincoln and Washington did,
Theyre trying to do it alone by themselves,
Each one believes hes the head,
If they would do like the wise men of old,
And follow that great guiding light,
Theyd give to King Jesus His place on the throne,
Then He would make evrything right.

Chorus: Rejecting the Savior,
Theyre trying to do it alone,
Theyre searching for Jesus,
Gods wonderful chief cornerstone.

Recitation:
While building the great temple of Solomon, the builders had gathered their timbers from the beautiful forest of Lebanon, and they had altogether hewn out their lovely stones for the building of the temple. So very skillfully and with fervency they began their great task, as they endeavored to erect that great monument of praise to our lord. As they continued their work they kept running across an odd stone. It seemed to be in everyones way, so they eventually threw it aside. And so it lay there alone by itself until the memory of it had completely perished from the peoples minds. After many years of hard labor, the beautiful temple was at last built, but their was an unsightly place, a horrible gap in the masons work that they could not account for, nor modify. Each builder tried to fit the stones that he had left, but it was to no avail. So at last someone suggested that since their was no other stones left, that in memory he had recalled the odd pestilent stone that had been thrown away. Could it possibly be that the stone we rejected is perhaps the graceful capstone fo the entire building? And so feverishly they began to search until at last they had recovered the stone from its long awaited place, and so it was that odd stone perfectly fit in the place that was vacant. For as it is written in the Holy Scriptures, The stone that the builders rejected, the same has become the head of the corner. It is the work of God and it is marvelous in our eyes.
